NEW Business Settings

NEW Business Settings is our revamped settings experience, making it easier for our customers to discover Deputy features and configuration. It’s more than a redesign; we have built it from the ground up to ensure it scales to meet the needs of our customers and our growing product line. ✨

  • Streamlined layout with clearer categorisation, making settings easier to find, configure, and manage.
  • A scalable information architecture built to support an expanding suite of products, settings and increasingly sophisticated features.
  • A complete rebuild on a modern, high-performance front-end tech stack for a faster, smoother experience.

Why 🤔

The current settings experience was no longer meeting the needs of our growing product suite or customer expectations. Settings were fragmented across multiple parts of the settings screen, making them hard to find and manage.

How to use it 🤓

Help documentation is available here.

How to get it 🧪

We’re progressively rolling out the new Business Settings experience to our customers.

Deprecating the old legacy Add Shift Modal

We plan to deprecate the legacy Add Shift Modal in Schedule Web by the end of 2025.

If you still see this screen when adding or editing a roster from the web, note that it will be replaced by the new Add Shift Popover starting from 30th October 2025.

Why

The new Add Shift Popover is our modern replacement, built with:
  • Up-to-date technology stacks for better reliability.
  • Improved user experience — cleaner, and more intuitive, designed to feel familiar like other modern calendar tools (e.g., Google Calendar or Microsoft Outlook).
  • Full feature parity with the legacy modal — everything you could do before, you can still do now.
  • A foundation for Micro-scheduling with Single Pay Rate, enabling smoother operations when managing multiple schedules for a single employee in a day.
  • Many of our upcoming scheduling improvements are built on top ofof Add Shift Popover,  eg.

    • Multi-select with Bulk Update/Delete
    • Shift patterns
    • Revamped Shift History
    • And more are coming

💸 PAYSLIP UPGRADE! Email Notifications & Web Access are LIVE for Deputy Payroll

We've just launched a major improvement to payslip access experience giving both employers and employees more power and flexibility as to how they access their payslips.

Web Access for All - Employees can now view and download their payslips directly on the Deputy web platform—a perfect alternative for those who prefer desktop or don't have a smartphone.

Instant Email Notifications - Right at the end of a pay run, employers can send out email notifications to let everyone know their payslip is ready. (For high security, we send a secure link, not the PDF)

Always in control! - Need to notify a specific location, employment type, or just a single person about a payslip? Our filtering options make that easy.

How does it work?

When you complete and lock a payrun in Deputy Payroll now, a new option will appear allowing you to send payslip notifications to your employees.

Clicking Send Payslips will then open a dialog allowing you to select which employees to notify.

You can choose to email every employee, or you can filter based on options such as:

- Locations

- Employment type (Full Time, Casual etc)

Once you have selected who you want to email payslip notifications to, click Email Payslips and the notifications will be sent to employees. Allowing them to login to Deputy and view and download their payslips on the web application.

Availability

This is now available for all customers with Deputy Payroll in the Australia region.

🚀 Getting you into Deputy Payroll faster than ever before

Since the launch of Deputy Payroll we've been blown away at the amazing feedback and positive sentiment. However, we've also seen and heard that many customers are having trouble and dropping off at the Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) setup, making the onboarding process longer and tricker than it needed to be.

🔐 Keeping your payroll data secure is a critical priority and staying compliant with Australian government requirements is a non-negotiable. Mandatory MFA is one of the best ways to achieve this, which is why our team has been hard at work streamlining the experience. Now you can setup MFA directly in your Deputy tenant, without leaving the setup flow or dealing with extra steps.

📱When setting up payroll, you'll simply scan a QR code to add your authentication codes in your preferred authentication app (Google Passwords, Apple Passwords, 1Password, Authy, etc.) and get straight back to setting up Deputy Payroll - quick, simple, secure. ✅

✨ This update is now live for all Deputy Australian customers.

Making Hiring Simpler and More Secure with Updated Permissions

As part of our ongoing commitment to privacy, we’ve refined Hire permissions. Managers will now only see job listings and candidates for the locations they’re assigned to—ensuring access is limited to what’s relevant, protecting confidential details, and making Hire simpler and easier to use.

Multi-Signature Contracts Made Simple in HR

Contracts often require multiple signatures, so we’ve enhanced the signed document experience in Deputy HR. You can now assign up to five parties to sign a contract—while still enjoying automated notifications and seamless storage of the completed document directly in the employee’s profile, both on desktop and in the app.

Micro-scheduling with easier shift changes on Mobile: Swap, Offer, Find Replacement & Approvals

We’ve improved the shift dynamic changes experience in the Mobile app, making it easier for managers and employees to handle the updates on the go.

What’s new:

The whole dynamic changes workflow supports both Micro-scheduling shifts and normal single area shifts.

  • Intuitive workflow – The shift dynamic workflow has been redesigned to be more user-friendly and fully compatible with Micro-scheduling shifts.
  • Manager shift replacement – Managers can now find replacements for an entire micro-scheduling shift directly in the Mobile app.
  • Employee flexibility – Employees can swap or offer their assigned shifts with colleagues straight from Mobile.
  • Manager approvals – Managers can approve or reject swap requests from both Mobile and Web.
  • Backward compatibility – Dynamic shift features continue to work for single-area rosters as usual.

⚠️ Note: Currently, the whole workflow apply to the entire shift (including all sub-shifts in a Micro-scheduling shift). Partial swap/offer/replacement isn’t yet supported. As a workaround, managers can use the Link/Split Shift feature to divide shifts and reassign parts.
