Payroll ID at your fingertips 🔢

What's new ✨

We know many of our customers assign Payroll IDs to team members for payroll and identification purposes.

You can now do more with Payroll IDs by:

🔍 Searching for a team member by Payroll ID on the People tab

📄 Running the Timesheet Report on Report Builder

Payroll ID now automatically populates next to each team member's name.

You can also add Payroll IDs to other reports in the Report Builder such as the Schedule Report. Simply drag and drop the Payroll ID field from All Fields > Employee.

A new experience of adding team members on the iOS app

What's new ✨

We've rebuilt the experience of adding team members on mobile - especially making it easy to set a team member's access level and default location straight away when adding them.

You can also now choose to send an email invitation to your team member right away or leave that for later when you've already set up your business in Deputy.

How to use it 🤓

Simply navigate to the People tab on mobile, tap on the Plus button on the top right corner and tap Add team member. If you want to add multiple people at once, tap Add another after adding each team member to easily add another person.

Click here to learn more about adding people and other actions you can do on mobile as a manager.

How to get it 🧪

This feature is being rolled out to all users of the Deputy iOS app this week. The same experience will be introduced to the Android app later this month.

The all new bulk import

What's new

We have completely rebuilt the bulk import tool, which will allow you to import and/or update employee data and pay rates into Deputy from CSV.

You are now able to import -

  • Employee/team member data, along with pay rates
  • Training modules

Why 👈

We heard from many customers about challenges in importing data into Deputy.

The new bulk import has many capabilities -

  • Upsert - Insert new data and update existing data in single import operation
  • Validations - Validate data (example - valid location or stress profile) before importing
  • In-place editor - Correct errors directly in editor (no need to download, correct and re-upload)
  • Export - Export all existing data so that you can edit and re-import (Bulk updates are easy now!)
  • Sample Import templates
  • Bulk Import History - Review previous imports

How to use it 🎯

On the People tab, click Add People and then Bulk Import/Update.

Select the type of data you want to import viz. Employee/ Team member or Training.

If you want to update a large number of existing employees, you can export/download -> update -> re-import data. Export file format matches import format.

Please refer to the help guide for detailed information.

How to get it 🙋

Bulk import for Employee/Team members and training is available to all customers.

Bulk import for pay rates is in beta and will be available in coming weeks. If you are interested in exclusive beta access, please let us know here.

What's coming next 🏆

We will continue to add more data types to bulk import in coming months -

  • Enterprise employment term assignments
  • Timesheet/Roster
  • Sales Data
  • Location/Areas
  • Leave Balances

Coming Soon: New multi-location selector for your schedule

What’s new ✨

You will have the ability to multi-select any combination of areas in the new schedule location selector (web).

Why 🤔

  • Flexibility with Multi-Select Locations - Making the schedule view more relevant by only showing exactly what you want. You can select any combination of locations & areas when scheduling
  • Efficiency - If you need to view and work across multiple areas and locations, you can now select them all in one go without having to frequently change location
  • System Performance - By showing only what you want, the Deputy platform doesn’t have to find all the shifts and staff you don’t currently need to look at. This helps the schedule perform faster and is one of a long list of upcoming performance enhancements we have planned — stay tuned!

How to use it

  1. Navigate to the schedule and you’ll find the new location selector where it’s always been
  2. Choose "Select Multiple"
  3. Select which areas and/or locations you’d like to view
  4. Hit "Done" to view your selection on your schedule

Sales Per Hour in Stats Panel

What's new ✨

Deputy is bringing you the ability to monitor the Sales per hour(SPH) in both Stats panel graph and table view.
We’ve also adjusted the default key business data showing up in the stats panel graph summary to make it easier to understand.
  •  Actual hours/wages/sales/labor%/SPH for past period
  •  Schedule vs. Forecast hours/wages/sales/labor%/SPH for current/future period
  •  You can always check budget vs. forecast vs. actual data in the hover-over popup as before

Why 🤔

With Sales per hour in the stats panel,  managers will not need to go back to Business Insight summary to check on those data.  It is easier for managers to leverage with this new north star metric while making scheduling decisions.

How to get it 🧪

This feature will be progressively rolling out to all customers in the next 2 weeks.

A faster and better Once page is coming to you soon

What's new ✨

From tomorrow, you may notice a refreshed Once page when logging in to access their business on Deputy.

This visual update comes with several performance improvements that will load your businesses faster and more reliably than before.

Deputy's Once page is where users can access all businesses associated with them, edit their personal profile or security settings, or manage the settings of a business, such as the URL, business name, and billing details.

This update will be available for all customers from tomorrow. We hope you love the change!

[Enterprise Only] Refreshed People Profile!

What's new ✨

Who doesn’t love a fresh new look? The People tab and employee profiles have a new look and feel. We have redesigned it for better navigation and so you can find & edit the information you need quicker. We’ve also reorganised and decluttered a few existing sections:

  • Profile includes personal details, employment details (where they work, training, pay, working hours), journals
  • Scheduling will have everything related to shifts, unavailability and leave
  • Activity includes news feed

Why 🤔

We've revamped the experience to give a faster, more intuitive experience to users, with improved workflow and a 'what you see is what you edit' philosophy, reducing the clicks you need to see your data.

How to use it 🤓

The Help Articles below are easy to follow and guide you through the new experience:

MYOB AccountRight Live is now called MYOB Business 👋

What's new ✨

Our MYOB AccountRight Live integration is now labeled MYOB Business! This change has been made everywhere you might use a MYOB integration, such as the integrations directory, payroll export and people import screens.

Why 🤔

MYOB have recently changed the name of their popular AccountRight Live payroll software to MYOB Business. Learn more about this change on MYOB’s website here!

Things to note ☝️

  • Nothing has changed with any of our exports. If you were exporting to MYOB AccountRight Live before, there will be no change to your integration (besides needing to click MYOB Business instead of MYOB AccountRight Live!)

Kiosk apps running on iOS 12 devices will no longer receive updates

What's new ✨

From March 2022, businesses using Apple devices running iOS 12 will no longer be able to download new updates of the Deputy Kiosk app.

Why 🤔

Apple continuously releases features that make developing apps simpler, quicker, more reliable and secure. Supporting devices that run iOS 13+ means we will have all these benefits as we improve the Kiosk app.

It will also allow us to release the Shift Pulse (team engagement) feature to the Kiosk app 🙂😐☹️

Things to note ☝️

  • Existing businesses with a device on iOS 12 will still be able to use the current version of the Kiosk app installed & there will be no downtime on the older versions as we go through this transition. However, it will no longer be supported via our help channels. We strongly encourage you to upgrade to iOS 13+ if supported by your device.
  • Users on iOS 13+ will continue to receive new versions of the iOS Kiosk app as we make updates.
  • This does not affect the Android Time Clock app.
